A few photos of the 1903 Henry Miller 6'6" Grand in Original Condition before disassembly
Taking measurements and plate location
The strings are cut, tuning pins extracted, bass strings removed, bolts removed, and the plate is pulled
The pin block is removed, and duplicated from a new plank of hard rock maple laminated pin block stock.
The Top Stack of the Piano Action is separated from the Key Frame, and all of the keys are removed from the Key Frame. Then the top stack, keys, and key frame are bead blasted clean. The front and balance rail pins are polished, new back rail felt glued down, and the front and balance rail felt punchings are replaced. In this action, the knuckles were replaced with German Renner knuckles, the same ones that are found on expensive, high quality German Grands. The hammers will be replaced next.
